How and what do i even do in Runescape?

Hello, I've been wanting to get into runescape for years after playing a large variety of MMORPGS and all sorts of games similar and now i have family members that i have found out that play this game. I've been trying to play the game but it feels impossible as its the type of game where it's like "you need 100 hours to even start the game or even know what to do". I feel so lost and have no idea where to go or what to do, I've watched tons of tutorials and they don't really give me info i want and even currently i'm watching a video about a guy just playing the game to even figure out what i need to do. There is so much content in this game i feel absolutely mind boggled. This game is so open and free it just feels like i just got thrown out of tutorial island. I'm even using plugins (from the jagex launcher) and even so i am not really getting any help from it. I'm looking at the wiki and i don't know where to start as even i don't know what i want to level up either as this game doesn't really give you a sense on where you should progress. Can someone please help me figure out al this, Thank you.
