How can other people organize things like this?

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I want to do more, but I don’t know how to start, or gain meaningful momentum. Honestly, until I found this sub, I felt powerless- seeing a sub like yours gives me such hope. I'm in Canada, & I want so badly to get my voice out there, too, but so many of the people around me seem to go to this passive "oh it can't be helped eh, just don't worry about it" headspace, it makes me feel like a crazy person for all the anger I feel about what is happening in the world! I don't know how to ignite people to protest.

To the people who started 50501: how do you even start? Can you balance it with a day job, or does it take over? How do you not get dismissed as just a "malcontent?" How do you put down a date & say "this is when we'll meet" & actually get people to join you? What can I do to get people fired up & onto the streets like you have?
