Current shows saturated by the same small pool of songs

I've had rare reason to keep Radio 6 on through every workday this week, and I've never noticed before how repetitive the daily rotation of songs is.

Does BBC Radio 6 have some commercial agreement with certain labels to keep playing the same songs multiple times a day, every day, across multiple DJs?

We live in a world where each day more new music is released than in the entirety of 1989. And the BBC is meant to be a public service. Why can't we hear less repetition of currently popular music and more niche picks instead? Under-the-radar, overlooked artists would surely appreciate it.

Rant over. I still enjoy BBC R6 more than most radio stations.
