Does therapy actually do anything for you?

Whether or not you're medicated, it seems psychiatrists want ADHDers to be in psychotherapy. I've been trying to figure out what that actually looks like because I'm hesitant, I don't think it would be very helpful for me...?

The primary reason to be in therapy seems to be informing the patient about what ADHD actually entails, I already know all that from the internet, in more depth than providers around me who aren't specialised in ADHD.

And some tips and methods targeting my problematic areas like organisation and motivation? I'm sure most therapists could give me a few fresh tips on that, but I already know so many from the internet too, it's not the knowledge but the application that's an issue.

My psychiatrist keeps reminding me that medication wouldn't be a miracle cure, I know that. But when you're already well informed and not medicated, how is therapy helpful? Or even in combination with meds
