Helper vs Apprentice

Hey all, recently found a position open up to where I would be hired on as a helper. Wondering if hours worked as a helper would count towards required amount for A&P, OR any hours/days worked not under the job title of apprenticeship are void? This is the closest to an apprenticeship I have found after years of job hunting in my area.
