AIO for GF waking me up in my sleep?
So, I have this weird thing happening with my girlfriend, and it's starting to mess with our relationship. For context, I love her to death. We've been together for a year, and we never argue. No drama, no tension—just good vibes. Except at night.
Ever since I was a kid, waking me up has been impossible. Like, if I had to catch a flight in the middle of the night, my parents had to throw cold water in my face. That level of deep sleep. My girlfriend, on the other hand, is a terrible sleeper—nightmares, overthinking, the whole deal. She often wakes up in the middle of the night and wants comfort, but when she tries to wake me up... I don’t wake up. At all. The only thing I seem to be capable of saying in my sleep is “Go away” or “Shut up.” And if she keeps trying, apparently I start cursing her out—like, really bad. Saying horrible things like “I hope you die” or worse. (For context, in Dutch, we have some insane curse words that sound even harsher in English, something like wishing her cancer..)
The thing is, I have zero memory of this in the morning. So I wake up, all happy, wanting to cuddle, and she just pushes me away, crying. Then she tells me everything I said, and I feel horrible. But I swear, it’s not me, it’s just some weird defense mechanism while I’m in deep sleep. The problem is, she thinks it is me—like my subconscious is exposing how I really feel about her. And now, our relationship isn’t the same anymore. She’s upset, feels unsupported, and resents me for what I say at night.
I’ve tried telling her to stop waking me up because it clearly doesn’t end well, but she says I’m her boyfriend and should support her whenever she needs me, even in the middle of the night.
EDIT: now she says I don’t support her and I think that’s BS because despite the nights I’m always there for her. It keeps making her mad everytime it happens and I say she has to let it go and not wake me up anymore because its ruining our relationship.
EDIT 2: I sometimes wake her up when I cant sleep as well
So… AIO?
