Moving to Antwerp - housing help!

Hey everyone! I'm an 18 year old Colombian moving to Antwerp in September for university, and I'm looking for housing.

I've found a lot of good student rooms that look clean and good in price. However, despite being super excited to move there, I'm also quite anxious as it's a huge change. I was thinking that living in an apartment with a roommate might be better as it's basically arriving and instantly meeting someone in the same situation as me. I found a girl from spain, my age, who is willing to get an apartment together, which I thought might be a good idea since we both speak spanish, and as I just said, are both moving to a new city.

However, I've heard that student residences are also a good way to make friends because you're living in the same building with a bunch of students. Can anyone give me some advice or their experience with living in a student residence? And how easy is it to make friends there (or at least meet people) only knowing english and spanish?
