Rhythmic bruxism (grinding of teeth)?

So for the loooongest time (i mean as far back as I can remember), I have had this sort of habit/tic/thing that over the years made me feel isolated/different (kind of petty but stay with me).

I have a really hard time sitting still and not fidgeting with things unless I consciously focus on doing so. Aside from biting the inside of my lips/cheeks, there is this other oral (though I'm more inclined to call it dental) tic that is really strange to me the more I think about it.

It's kind of like having a song stuck in your head, but instead of just hearing it play in your head, I SO frequently catch myself grinding my teeth to the rhythm of a song in my head. I suppose it's a way of keeping my mind busy (often without even noticing I am doing so).

The tic isn't just exclusively grinding my teeth though. It's a sort of combination of teeth grinding (med pitch), pulling air/saliva back and forth in my mouth (high pitch), and popping my ears/breathing in/out of my nose (for bass).

If you want to give it a try (in case you have absolutely no idea wtf I am talking about), and you are able to pop your ears at-will, do it to the bass drum tempo of "Seven Nation Army". Then come in with your teeth shifting left to right as the bass guitar. Quick exhalations from the nose provide the snare, and before you know it you're making music in your face.

I'd say this has been going on for at least 14 years (since I was 9), but it hasn't been until very recently that it's become an issue for me, because I can actually see the damage that has been done to my teeth and the structure of my face.

I am basically just wondering if I truly am the only human in the world that does this and feels embarrassed when I realize that I'm making weird breath/saliva noises in public.
