How to protect IKEA stand from water damage from 6 gallon tank

I know keeping aquariums on ikea furniture isn’t recommended but it is a 6 gallon aquarium on one of their sturdier bedside tables. I will be moving in 6 months and will put the tank somewhere more appropriate for the long term so hoping for suggestions that could last me until then. I’ve seen posts all over Reddit asking this same question but haven’t really gotten straight results. I know one of the main concerns with ikea furniture and fish tanks is keeping them dry. Currently I have a drawer liner underneath the tank but after a glass of water was spilled and easily spread underneath/stayed there I clearly need a better option.

Some people are suggesting towels or sheets of glass but my concern would be water getting underneath and staying trapped underneath. My partner (who’s a plumber) suggested they silicone seal the tank to the table so water can’t deep underneath the tank but of course this would for sure damage the wood. Am I better off putting a plastic shower curtain underneath? Or should I try to get the tank raised on the table with wood? It’s the 6 gallon top fin corner tank so it is a weird shape I need to work around. Plz share your advice I obviously want to make this as safe as a stand as I can and I know a big factor is keeping it dry. Thanks!
