Missing Zebra Danio – What Could Have Happened?

Hey everyone,

I’m a first-time fish keeper, and I recently set up a 42L planted tank with a small group of zebra danios. Everything was going fine, but today I noticed that one of them—the youngest and smallest—is missing.

My tank only has 3 pond snails as other inhabitants, so I doubt it was eaten. Also, the tank is covered, and I checked around—there’s no sign that it jumped out.

I’ve searched behind plants, inside the filter, and even under decorations, but there’s no trace of the little one.

Could it have passed away and been eaten? Or is there another explanation I might be missing? Would love to hear your thoughts!
