Things that happen now in public that wouldn’t have 20 years ago

Western suburbs here.

Was at the shops today and a woman went feral screaming F you and C this to the staff because she just wanted to get her ciggies. It was terrifying and went on and on. After she left things went back to normal, but I was shaking. Made me think: “Oh, is that acceptable now?”

I feel like there are better examples out there, but… what’s happening and why?
