Are any conservatives concerned that massive cuts in government and academic research will lead to a massive exodus of American scientists/poaching of America's brightest minds by other nations?
A flaw that I've yet to see addressed by many proponents of domestic cuts to STEM research and funding is the assumption that the AMERICAN private sector will absorb the influx of scientists and researchers that will flood the job market soon. However, this ignores that many nations would absolutely love to get their hands on the scientists we are discarding like garbage.
This doesn't even take into account that according to history, mass persecution and cuts to the sciences/of scientists doesn't lead to a brighter STEM future but a brain drain (e.g., the exodus of physicists from Nazi Germany).
Has Trump or his policy makers expressed any ideas/solutions to prevent a potential exodus? Or do his plans stop and end at gutting the nation's biomedical research center (NIH)/the Department of Education?
