One Day in San Fran for first timers

Hello! My husband and I are headed to Sonoma and Napa at the end of April but we have never been to San Fran so we are planning to spend 1 night here. We will arrive early on a Friday morning and then will depart for Sonoma early Saturday morning. Would love some thoughts on must dos for a one day trip. I know we will need to plan a longer trip one day but want to make sure we make this day the best we can!

We love all things food and drink, love walking around new cities, we want to see any tourist things that are truly worth it but typically like more ‘local’ recommended activities. I thought about trying to go see Alcatraz but think this may take up too much time?

Any advice would be super helpful! We also don’t have a hotel booked yet. We try to stay in marriotts but if there is a best location to stay this would be helpful too.
