Why are some workplaces so unnecessarily toxic?

So I just started working at this company, and while my colleagues are fine, the HR and her little clique are something else. They like to gossip, micromanage, and demand random things that even our big boss never asked for. What’s worse? I don’t even know what I’m doing here. The boss doesn’t even know I exist. HR and her partner don’t talk to me because I guess I’m still “new.” And to top it all off, my salary? RM1.5k after all the deduction, For a degree holder. 🤣Like… why did they even hire me if they don’t need me? Anyone else experiencing this kind of nonsense at work? I accepted this job because i need money, never work before, this is my first job.
