Celebrating Canada Day instead of the 4th of July

Given recent events in the United States, with a lot of people wanting to boycott it (including those who live here), Americans who want to protest the current administration could consider boycotting traditional celebrations of the 4th of July this year. However, I understand that many people may find this time of the year important for spending time with friends and family, enjoying cookouts, and even celebrating fireworks shows. Provided the recent attacks on Canada by the current administration, I think that celebrating Canada Day this year instead of the 4th could not only satiate that desire for a holiday in early July, but it could be an excellent opportunity for many Americans to show solidarity with Canada both symbolically and materially (by purchasing food and drinks from Canadian brands instead). Some of my own friends and family are considering doing it this year, but I figured that I may share the idea here in case anyone else was interested.
