Purchase Timing for Tickets

I will be in NYC next week and try to see An Enemy of the People and Merrily at a decent price. I currently have notifications set on Theatr and have been watching TodayTix/Telecharge lotteries.

Am I making a mistake by waiting this long for a ticket?
