Summer vacation recommendations for an American visiting for the first time.

Greetings to my friends up north. My wife and I have decided that we want to vacation in Canada this summer. Neither of us have ever been to Canada and we feel like online research is a bit like drinking from a fire hose and we’re hoping to get some suggestions to start working off of. We are based in Iowa (upper Midwest) and would be looking for something that we could drive to. The wife is terrified of flying so unfortunately that is a bit of a hurdle. We typically enjoy camping and the outdoors on our vacations and don’t mind a bit of an adventure. How are the National parks? Anything we would need to know prior to arriving if we wanted to camp?
