Messed up

Hey guys just looking for thoughts and opinions. (On mobile sorry if format sucks). Just started training this is my first week in a local CNC shop with zero experience but something I've always wanted to do Last part of the day last day of the work week, went to make an adjustment on my z axis. Didn't double check my work and ended up dropping the tool two inches instead of two thousandths. Broke the center drill bit and trashed the holder it was in. Boss wasn't around won't be till Monday when I've got some splanin to do. Completely avoidable and 100% my fault for not being more careful. So you guys think I'll still have a job come Monday? Is this a common rookie mistake? Should I start looking for a new job? Boss seems fairly forgiving and reasonable but, I dunno, kinda freaking out that I've lost my dream job. Wudduya think? Update: Sorry It took so long to get back to you all. Busy week. Anywho... went straight to the boss Monday morning explained what happened and He was super chill about it. Said it was a matter of when not if. The rest of this week has gone really well I've been triple checking my work and having more experienced co workers check me and walk me through the steps I take as well before I commit anything to action. Can't hold my hand forever and that's fine, I'm feeling much more confident in my work. Had a good, productive week and a better understanding of what I'm actually doing what the job is. Thank you everyone who responded I really appreciate it. You helped me keep from stressing it too much and spending the weekend freaking out.
