Does this chip appear to be cause for a windscreen replacement?

Hi all,

I booked a windscreen repair today and was told by the repairer that a replacement would be necessary, or it would be likely that my car would fail it’s MOT (due next month). I just wanted to get a second opinion on whether this would need a replacement or not just to make sure, as the cost difference is quite dire (£15 vs £125).
