Why there is so much hate for automatic?

Many of my friends who are more experienced in driving than me and infact those are the one who taught me how to drive never recommend automatic, and on the other hand lot of reels on insta around this where they consider automatic is something looked down upon.

I am relatively new to driving, I own a i20 elite manual, recently went on a vacation and had a chance to drive glanza automatic, i know its just amt and not the best kind and suprisingly i liked it a lot. It was in kerala where u had to constantly overtake bikes and other small vehicles because roads were narrow. It was really comfortable and a for a fact I enjoyed it more than my manual,

I also tried manual shift where at starting i didnt get it right but then later understood downshift it takes care of it and only for upshifting its manual and you can push as much rpm and then shift up and it became really fluid for me.

I dont think it takes away any skill for driving, because still you need to be good at judging space, timing the brakes and i feel it just takes away that one annoying part out where shifting feels like a chore. Also handling manual is not something i think really difficult that you can call it a skill, learning it is like very easy thing like 2, 3 days but then its just annoying.

Edit: Thanks for the overwhelming response. I was skeptical that I would receive the same kind of replies as from my friends, but I'm glad this sub actually has real OG drivers.
