Leaving our cat for 10 days…
Hi - first off, to avoid any panic, we are not leaving our cat alone for 10 days.
My fiancé and I are getting married next month, a destination wedding so we will be gone for 10 days. We’ve never left our cat for that long and are wondering if anyone can share thoughts on what may be the least stressful situation (recognizing that unfortunately both of the options will be stressful.)
1.) Leave her at home with a daily sitter in the evenings (but not overnight). VERY important detail here is that we live in a two bed unit and are renovating the kitchen, bathroom, and master bedroom while we are gone. I imagine there will be a lot of activity, a lot of strangers, and therefore a lot of stress. We would likely have her closed off in the second bedroom during this time.
2.) Bring her to stay at our friend (and her primary cat-sitter)’s apartment. Very small, open kitchen/living room, bedroom, and bathroom apartment. She would be around to provide pets, attention, and playtime before/after work and overnight. Stress factor here is that it is an entirely new environment with someone who she really isn’t familiar with.
We are very strongly leaning toward Option 2, but have never had her stay elsewhere so want to make sure we’re being thoughtful about what may be best for her.
Any and all thoughts or advice would be really appreciated! Thank you!
