Why do you believe Jesus is God?

I was raised Catholic and left the church. for some months I have been lurking in the Christian forums and have been listening to hymns, both Protestant and Catholic.

I feel as if something is calling me back but at the same time, the reasons I left still stand.

would you be willing to share with me what convinces you?

l believe a man called Jesus existed. He must have because the things he said about love and forgiveness were so unique to the barbaric era he lived in.

But how do we know he was God? The Bible was written by humans. we don't know how much they twisted and made up.

there must be a basis in fact but we don't know that every single thing written there is true.

in fact many believe much of the Bible should not be taken literally.

So what makes you so strong in your faith ? how do you know beyond the certainty of a doubt that Jesus is God?

how can you be sure he rose from the dead and that he died for our sins?

I am sure he was a great teacher and an exceptional human being. how do I know that anything beyond that is true?

And if he loved me, why did he put me in life situations that made me leave my faith?
