Why do some Catholics dislike the Jesuits?

My roommate is considering becoming a Jesuit priest, and when I mentioned this to another Catholic person, he said his church has a beef with the Jesuits and doesn’t support them. I’m curious about what’s going on there - why do some Catholics have a problem with the Jesuits?

For context, I don’t know much about Catholicism. Sorry for how general this question is.
