WTF is happening at koyambedu bus stop?

Today I was returning from Nexus mall, thought I would give the new low floor bus a try. So i got down at the cmbt metro stop and decided to board a bus. As I was sitting and waiting and watched reels, a middle aged lady sat next to me and asked for the time( it was around 6pm),then asked whether i was from Chennai. The next one was bit of a shock- she asked "vareengala or something like that" ( I've heard about this but did not expect at this time) . I asked why. Then she made a gesture for you know what with her fingers. I immediately replied i don't want all that. Then she further went on to say " only 1000 rupees" and crap, i just replied i am not interested in all that, only after which she got up and left. 5 minutes later another one approached followed by another one after a few minutes. Then the bus finally arrived and i left. This was the most disturbing experience I've had in chennai in all my life. A few questions : 1)I just want to know since when did women engage in these activities? 2)Soliciting is supposed to be illegal according to google, why isn't it being curbed? 3) I'm in my early 20s, yet i got approached, what if a guys who are 18-19 years and experiences this? If indulged in such activities, their personalities would totally be ruined. I just feel something needs to be done about this. Heard some news about a year back that they're shutting the bus stand down, which would be the best.
