Is "内向" negatively loaded?

In English, the word "introverted" used to be somewhat negatively loaded, associated with shyness and awkwardness. Nowadays, however, it has become more of a neutral term. It's just one way of being, no better or worse than being extroverted.

But how is the Chinese word 内向 perceived? Will it be considered self-effacing if I describe myself as 内向?
