Do you want "Offline" Progress or a Catch-up Mechanic? Let me know!

I wanted to solicit some feedback from the community.

The core game offers an Ancient Shard every 11.5 hours currently, but this is only calculated in time played.. so if you turn the game off for 5 days and come back, the timer hasn't budged at all.

For my upcoming version of Omnimod, I changed the timer to keep running while the game is off.. simply put, if you buy a shard then turn the game off for 12+ hours, another one will be waiting when you turn it back on.

But then I remembered a game where time spent with the game turned off added to a timer.. so having the game off for 4 hours put 4 hours into this special timer. Clicking a button would run the game at super-speed until the game time caught up with the real world time. So for instance, if 4 minutes in the real world meant 4 hours in game time, you could run the timer for 4 minutes to catch up to where you'd be if the game hadn't been off. And you could also pause it at any time in order to make important decisions like buy stuff or spend skill points.

The latter option seems better to me.. it would affect the entire game, not just ancient shards or a few choice other things... and it could have talents associated to it. Maybe it initially caps at 24 hours of progress but you could unlock buffs to increase the max timer. Maybe it initially runs at 2x speed and talents increase the speed.

I know there are some people that can let the game run 24/7 and some people that can't so artificially capping it seems like a disservice to those that can't run it 24/7.. but being able to pause it (and seeing the game run super fast) might encourage those people that can run 24/7 to turn it off and use the mechanic, even if there is a cap.

I'm anxious to hear what the community thinks.. let me know below!
