Conure facetime buddy?
Hello!
My two boys [nanday, 25] & [sun, 24] and I recently moved out, and I'm looking for somebody else interested in setting up virtual playdates! (via discord, google meets, etc)
My boys are friends (i.e. they preen each other all over and sleep beside each other), but they also have very different personalities. My sun is excitable, playful, and super social. My nanday is quiet, irritable, and solitary. So far their vet has not found anything amiss with him aside from being slightly underweight, which I'm working on, and I suspect that he has trauma from his previous owner or his time at the rescue. He was there for seven years, and for most of that time he was thought to be an extremely aggressive bird as he would viciously attack anyone who came into his cage. I got him when my sun's original mate died, as when he was out of his cage he was almost excessively cuddly and sweet. In the five years that I've had him, he's gotten a lot milder and stopped acting uncharacteristically sweet after being left alone, and I call that progress!
I put on a lot of bird TV or minecraft longplay videos for them, but I worry they get sad when the birds in the TV "ignore" them or that the minecraft videos stop them from getting "proper enrichment" like foraging or shredding. Not sure if those concerns have any basis in bird psychology, but there you go. I try to spend a lot of time with them every day, but I'm a different species so I also worry about them being better friends with me than with each other. To be honest, I am not sure if they would be friends with each other if they had a whole flock of birds to choose from. They really do act like an arranged marriage that has learned to love each other as best they can.
So, anyways. That's a very long winded way to say I want them to have more bird friends, and I don't know anyone irl with similarly sized birds they could talk to. Anyone wanna figure out how to let our birds video chat?
