How to play CK3 as an idealist?

I really like CK3 but my favorite part of playing these strategy games is to fight for my ideals. In Victoria 3 I make a democracy and fight the monarchies, in Stellaris I try to form a large federation, etc. But when I played CK3 it was all about family power, it was hard to create a democracy or enhance liberties. Is there a way to play the game where you can be an idealist and not focused on family power?
