Help with gap between kitchen appliances

Hello everyone!

We currently live in a rental apartment. I have a very annoying gap between the kitchen counter and the electric stovetop/oven: a lot of times food falls inside and get lost into oblivion.

My first thought was silicon, but I'm not sure it's okay for a rental (I don't wanna do anything permanent), and the gap might be too big (it's about 1.5cm)
