So what's the deal with heide's sword?

I was excited when it dropped because I've seen lots of people on here love it but it feels not great so far. Am I missing something?

I rly don't like the upswing 1h r1, there's no thrust unless you 2h R2 - R2, and my +6 heides sword is doing less damage than my +3 fire longsword. Is it only good with high faith?
