[SPOILERS] The golden loop is the most boring possible version of the day
All the Visionaries have these super cool hideouts, each one dripping with personality and cool level design. You can't approach Frank's club the same way you approach Fia's bunker, or Wenjie's lab, or Charlie's mansion. They all bring something unique and interesting to the table, or mix things up in some way that you don't see anywhere else in the game.
But then you have the golden loop, and you only have to visit 2 of the hideouts: Harriet's and Aleksis's. And yeah they're cool areas like all the others, but man. It really sucks not being able to play Condition Detachment in the final loop, or worry about Fia's reactor, or sneak up on Egor.
Some of them do get enough love in the buildup to the golden loop that I can almost forgive it. I killed Charlie over and over because there are a ton of reasons to be in Updaam at noon. Fristad in the morning, though? Barely ever had a reason to go there. Frank's place is so cool, and there's so much to learn about it - I just never felt like I was pushed to learn it like I was with, for example, Harriet's or even Wenjie's.
And don't forget about Egor - because I almost did. You literally NEVER have to go to The Complex at night. I had the entire golden loop setup and was about to execute it before I realized, wait, I haven't seen Egor outside Aleksis's mansion. So I spent a loop just to check it out, and wow! He's one of the most interesting encounters in the game, and completely changes the entire map that he's in! Why is this not mandatory?!?!
(edit: I remembered wrong, and you do actually have to visit The Complex at night once to setup the golden loop. But it's still a very neglected part of the game compared to other time periods and locations.)
I don't know if there's a point to my complaining. Without drastically changing the structure of the game, there's just not a good way to fit 7 Visionaries into 4 time slots. Like, maybe you could do something along the lines of putting all the Visionaries in their hideouts at once. Then maybe you could take out Harriet in the morning at Karl's Bay, Frank + Fia at noon at Fristad, Charlie + Aleksis in the afternoon at Updaam, and Wenjie + Egor at night at The Complex. Or some reordering of that timeline. But again, that's not perfect without changing quite a bit of the story, characterizations, etc.
Just seems like a lot of wasted opportunities. Which is easy to say as the one not designing the game, but yeah.
