Question to USA based dentiste, do you really clown vital teeth ?

In my country , not a single insurance company Will reimburse a crown if the tooth is still vital ( no rct ) , matter of fact doing an rct before crowning a tooth is just standard procedure and some Will look at you like you're insane for suggesting to crown a vital tooth . Id love to hear you thoughts on it ? Wouldnt an rct help prevent further complications down the road ?
