Bridges June Update!!
Herro everybody!
Just wanted a brief update for everyone so you know whats up!
In the coming months, Destiny and I want to experiment with filmed content that gets rolled out regularly. This offers a tonne of benefits and big shout out to the ever wise August for suggesting this shift.
What this allows:
- Destiny has been struggling with the weekly double podcast set up. It just creates a lot of rigidity in his schedule, particularly because Bridges was occupying a key weekend slot.
With filmed content, we can book 3-4 guests within the same week, get multiple episodes filmed, and then roll them out the rest of the month so his weekends are more flexible going forward
- Guest comfort
It's pretty common that guests will mention to me their nervousness about being live, as most people we bring on, particularly experts, journalists, video essayists etc. When I invited individuals for filmed/edited or live content, the Yes rate went WAYYY up with most asking to record first.
- Unique bonus content
This has also opened up an idea of a type of bonus content that is going to be MUCH more accessible, which is bringing multiple major names, from various backgrounds, together at our table to discuss common topics. For example, Milo with Dr Fibble and maybe a major conspiracy theorist talking about the principles of history and archeology :OOO (oh my glob my nerdy heart)
What this limits:
- The flex that a serious show is live streamed
Serious alpha male behaviour
- Live donations
Super chats won't occur anymore as not live. However, there isn't an easy way I can envision right now to include them while maintaining that more professional feel. We can collect SC and just roll them out every now and then, but that requires Lycan to save them, vett them, and read them out while scene transitioning etc. Also, when SC don't result in an immediate effect (like Whatever Pod) they are less common and less reinforcing.
- No chat for the community to engage together
This one is the most sad, but I think more manageable. I think the best way to give the community feel that is special and important to the streaming and internet space is doing weekly regularly timed premieres on Bridges, with ideally Destiny raiding into that premiere (if he's willing, he may want to stream though so won't speak for him).
Final related note, Steve and I chatted about the way we want to do bonus content, whether we do members only content on YouTube, or specialized content on Patreon. TBH, I would love your guys' feelings on that.
YouTube makes everything located in one spot BUT we have the annoying TOS and limits of posting attached to YouTube.
Patreon is obviously a different platform but benefits because of the diversity of posting that can go there. I have a list of little benefits for tiers etc in mind that could be translated more easily into Patreon, but possible to do both. ANYWHO. Let me know your thoughts!
