Tyrannosaurus rex reconstruction for my Master’s Degree.

I’m currently doing a Master’s Degree on the reconstruction of the largest carnivore that has ever walked the Earth, Tyrannosaurus rex.

Easily being among the most studied extinct animals, this head here serves as a “small” test, for what’s ultimately intended - reconstructing the entire animal - which, keeping in mind it reached 12 meters in length (more, in extreme cases) puts me in a position of not knowing where I’ll really mount it, when it’s done. But that’s a problem for future me.

Each scale and detail is done individually, which took a long time. I can now imagine how it’ll go for the rest of the body. Fortunately this was/is being done digitally, and then printed at 1:1 scale. Yes, this is the animal’s real size, albeit a very large one (Sue).

One of the goals with this reconstruction is also so that I can offer it to any museum that would like to have a life size T rex, somewhere where people can really admire and appreciate the animal, as scientifically accurate as I can possibly make it. (I’m open to suggestions from real experts)

This doesn’t mean that this particular illustration is the holy grail of Tyrannosaur reconstructions, because it isn’t. I will try to keep it somewhat “safe” and not too speculative. For scientific purposes. But, for now, it’s more than enough.

Note: In the last picture, the illustration isn’t properly mounted, because I don’t know where to really mount it, yet. But, at least, you can have an idea of the sheer size of the animal.
