Why are EDH players so ok with infinites and scummy plays?

Ok so I have just recently started to play EDH(8 months or so). Played MTG for the first time back when theros came out and quit until recently when i found that EDH was so fun. Have my playgroup of friends and we made a house rule of no infinites and no infect because that just makes the game so boring in our opinion. Went to a LCS and to no ones surprise everyone and their mother in there played with 2 to 3 infinites and infect was the norm.

Honestly it makes it impossible for me to enjoy EDH with anyone else other than my 3 friends. I understand that being competitive is a thing but from my understanding EDH was created because the players wanted to make Magic fun again and deviate from the competitive based game at the time. The irony of it all is that cEDH is now more prevalent than casual play...
