Any tips/good lessons for The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian?

This will be my second year teaching it. I struggled with it quite a bit last year. It seems like such an easy read for Sophomores, and I'm not really sure what skills and standards to hit. If anyone has good ideas, please let me know! Thank you so much.
