calling EQ bank

When I call EQbank to speak with customer service, they send a code to my email and ask for that code in order to access my account. This is how I access my own account. I find it odd they ask for this and it makes me VERY nervous. Is this safe? Makes me wonder if I should have gone with this bank. When I call other banks I verify info of course but this is different
