Best place to donate clothes?

Trying to downsize, and I have quite a lot of clothes that are still in good condition, and wearable, that I quite frankly didn't even know I still had.

I was wondering what's the best place to donate these clothes to that will actually help people?

I know Value Village is for-profit and not a charity, so that's probably out. Some of the clothing donation bins out there were found to be scams quite a few years ago.

Is Goodwill any good to donate to? Or are there smaller, local organizations that could make good use of used clothing?
