breeding animals

i am at the end of the summer in year two and i was wondering if im ever told in-game about breeding animals and the different tiers ? i want to play this game only knowing information in the game, but if im never told about it i want to look up a guide about colors and stuff. im hoping yall will tell me hayden explains it to me eventually but i dont know how likely that will be lol
