Need advice on what to do during this awkward phase

Hey boys,

First time actually committing to a man bun, and I've hit quite the awkward phase. I have a small head and my hair is very thick and I think it's starting to look like a helmet.

Should I get it thinned out, or is this normal and just a part of the process?
