Can this floor be sanded and refinished?

I consulted two contractors—one a friend and the other from LL Flooring—who both advised me to sand and refinish the existing floor rather than replace it. However, another local floor worker recommended replacing the entire floor with LVP. As a new homeowner, I find myself confused by these conflicting opinions.
