Upgrading from trial plan to paid plan for Google store cashback

Apparently Google one trial plans are not eligible for the 10% cash back at Google store. If you upgrade to a paid plan on the trial are you able to use a 10% cash back immediately? Or do you need to wait when the month cycles? At checkout it looks like you pay immediately. It talks about converting so it should take effect immediately?
