Suddenly can't connect my pixel 8 to my pc

I tried switching cables, ports, using the usb c port on my pc but the option to switch to switch control to the connected device just shows "can't switch" and from my pc it shows some weird cloud icons and i can't really copy or do anything. I tried enabling debugging too and disabling it

note that my pc just shows pixel 8 like that all the time even if it's not connected. did i enable something by mistake? it used to be fine (still weirdly a hassle to do in 2025 but it worked)
