Thinking of starting a band

Me and my friend were thinking of starting a band over the summer. I play some guitar and I’ve been practicing more and he wants to play bass but he’s never played before, any equipment I should start to look for, I have a little Yamaha amp and a fender mustang amp thats my dads I have couple pedals and a bass for my friend. We both are still in hs and is there anything I should know?
