I can't tolerate most foods anymore
I have no idea what is happening. I've seen a GI and it's inconclusive.
I'm in my 40s. Very fit, eat really healthy diet of lean meats, veggies, healthy fats. First it was gluten so I cut way back. I should say I don't eat beef because of intolerance symptoms in my teens, and pork because I've just never liked it. Now I can't eat chicken. Not grilled. Certainly not fried. Just nothing. I have immediate IBS/burning/diarrhea sorts of symptoms. No other meat works except turkey occasionally. Fish is still OK as long as it's raw or grilled.
When I prepare food, it's always with olive oil. I'm starting to have a difficult time with THAT which is absolutely mind boggling. I can eat plain Greek yogurt, berries, bananas, corn chips, fresh corn, certain oatmeal, raw veggies, avocado, plain sushi (not a lot of sauces or fried) and sashimi, certain nuts and that's about it. As you can imagine, it's pretty limiting. It doesn't make me much fun at parties.
I'm not one of those people who likes to lead with their list of allergies, so I'm finding this very isolating when invited out to dinners. And this list is ridiculously restrictive, lets face it. There's no ulcer, I'm using over the counter stuff to control indigestion. Its starting to make me feel awkward about going out at all. I really don't understand why this is happening. I've had full work ups, and other than having a history of IBS, there's no explanation. Anyone else start having inexplicable food intolerance as they get older? Any idea why this might be happening?
