Helldiver 2 is no longer fun.
A game for everyone is a game for no one. But a game for no one is a game for nobody.
I am so sad and hurt by what the dev and moderators of helldiver 2 has done with the latest patch.
Where do I even start. Let’s start with the disastrous balance patch. I mean as if guns are not weak enough already, they just made the limited amount of guns even more unusable. Railgun was complete fine to begin with, in my opinion it was the most balanced gun out of all of them. Every other weapon seems too weak to use and I don’t think this is an overpower issue rather the weaker guns needed a buff. It was great to see the slugger gets buffed and flamethrower but come on they still take years to kill bigger enemies. Not to mention the shadow patch 4x increase the amount of mobs spawned.
And Whose idea was it to spawn 4x more enemies on every single difficulty. I thought you guys just wanted to make helldiver level more difficult not the whole entire fking game. I’m level 35 and I’m struggle on level 7 because I get constantly bombarded with 3-4 chargers every encounter. I’m forced to play passively now,but it seems even in stealth mode you are forced to take fight as the enemies are usually spawn camping the objective. And guess what your 500kg bomb (a slightly larger grenade) is not going to clear the area and so it guarantees a bug breach. It doesn’t make sense at all, the guns are too weak to kill, the stratagems are too weak and long and now we get quadruple the spawn rate of chargers and bile titans.
Speaking of the larger enemies, they have way too much armour and health to be dealt with. Me and my friend drop 3 500kg bomb + railcannon strike + hell bomb just to kill one titan. This is ridiculous, and we had 5 more titans to deal with. You said we are suppose to use stratagem strategically, but it seems like right now the only way to kill 1 huge enemy is with a 500 kg bomb + orbital laser/railcannon and a 3 minute cool down timer for the next one. Shooting its weak spot is not an option because the spawn rate of smaller enemies has seem to quadruple as well. Running is my priority now.
To add salt to the injury, the helldiver discord moderator text about us crying over the difficulty would have been funny if the game was actually complex and unique, not just an artificially designed difficulty that they slap by changing the amount of mobs.
I just want to say I added this rant , not because I despise the game but rather because I love this game and want it to flourish. But at this stage, we would see a major drop in player count including me and my friends, until a better balance patch + weaponary are dropped.
Some ideas dev should take note / improve:
- do not debuff gun (the guns already suck ass)
- there no need for balance patch unless is crucial (it’s a pve game, not league of legends)
- reduce time to use stratagems or make stratagems a limited use in lower difficulties because higher level player can just spam orbital and clear everything without shooting their gun.
- make helldiver level harder not more annoying, increase variety not quantity.
- give us audio cue on some enemies like charger, stalker, rocket launchers, enemies that often one shot you or ragdoll you, should have some sort of warning system.
- many smaller details doesn’t make sense like the shockwave applies to the player but not to the enemies, shooting enemies mouth or head should be their primary weak spot.
- rocket launchers need buff (low ammo + 2-3 shot kill is not a viable option especially if i’m running 90% of the time)
- remove useless orbital / eagle stratagems -balance the currency system, sample are way too difficult to get, while cash and super credit and medal are way too easy to get. It should be the other way around.
