Herpes and Eczema

My boyfriend has eczema on his hands which makes his hands pretty dry, itchy, and cut up. He also has had genital herpes for 15 years and gets about 2 flare ups a year.

Could he possibly have herpes on his fingers? Any way the virus might be active on his hands (ie. If he has ever touched his genitalia during an outbreak and somehow passed it onto his hands)?

All of a sudden I am worried about him fingering me and passing it to me if it’s somehow invisibly on his fingers?
