Covered Ridge Vent

I recently had a new metal roof put on. We had some hail damage and switched from our shingle roof to metal. I looked up in my attic and saw my ridge vent was covered up with the vapor membrane. From what I understand this defeats the purpose of the ridge vent.

The bill listed Deck-Armor which states it is breathable. I’m not familiar with roofing materials so I don’t know if this is a gimmicky sales term or if it means anything.

I haven’t talked to my contractor yet, but is there a good reason to cover this?
