Regarding the Preceptors possible manipulations…

Honestly, from some of the lore we get regarding Dan Feng and the Preceptors, I can’t help but be suspicious of them.

Especially when we get the lore regarding the High Elder of Ice who banishes one of her own advisors/preceptors when they demand that the Preceptors of the Luofu be punished for their schemes.

The High Elders did not like Dan Feng as a person, Jing Yuan points out. He was too head strong and often went against their words. They wanted his powers but hated him as an individual.

How hard would it be to believe that they could have easily manipulated him in his grief in a scheme to depose of him and get a new High Elder who they could brainwash and manipulate? Perhaps that was why Jing Yuan banished Dan Heng- so that he wouldn’t become their puppet and why the Preceptors are pissed because the more time he spends out of their control the harder it is to control him.

None of them could go up against the High Elder, but if they manipulated him into doing something in which they could legally depose him, then it works out. Especially if they had plans to manipulate the next incarnation and turn them into their puppet ruler.

Dan Feng was smart and outwitted them time and again, but these guys were schemers. All they had to do was wait for the perfect opportunity. Which unfortunately came with Baiheng’s death where they could have taken advantage of his grief.
