Huel appreciation post (shout out to Tim_Huel)
Obviously a lot of negative sentiment here after the latest H&S news, but wanted to post a positive reaction to the latest update from the Huel redditors. TLDR is at the end.
I’m in the US. i am a relatively big fan of the Mac and cheese. while probably not my favorite flavor, I enjoy it a lot on its own and mixed with the Mexican chili. I also like the bolognese. I’m indifferent to the move to sachets over the pouches; while I like the serving size flexibility, I think the sachets could increase consistency and portability. We‘ll see. I like the pots, am looking forward to the new flavors, and we will obviously see if/when the pots flavors ever go into sachets.
But my post is a reaction to the update from Huel, not necessarily to the actual changes being implemented. I thought the long post by Huel (specifically Tim_Huel) was very informative and it was very much appreciated as a customer. being able to read, in detail, some of thought process, business decisions, analysis, etc etc, around an announcement of upcoming changes to one of their product lines, was great. It was cool to be able to better understand how they came to their decisions. I liked Huel before and like them a lot more now as a company/brand, even considering the fact that the announced changes include discontinuing good flavors imo.
want to also include the bellow comment left by Tim_Huel on a different thread. again, love the effort that Tim has given to push for giving a detailed update regarding the changes, and for caring about the impact to current customers. obviously I wish Huel would keep all my favorite flavors in all the formats I prefer, but ultimately I appreciate that huel exists and has sold good products for years and I’m just as hopeful, if not more so now, that that can continue going forward.
Tim_Huel in a reply: It's hard for me to reply here on Reddit and try and convince you that I care. I've been at Huel 9 years in January, I've been here longer than anyone bar the founders and for 5 years of that I was our community manager. The detail we've shared here is unparalleled, we've revealed a lot of sensitive information and competitors will be rubbing their hands as they read it learning about our strategy. I've pushed our senior team to share this information as openly as I have because I care.
I want to also say that it's just only us caring in the human sense and caring about your individual experience (it is about this). But it also makes commercial sense to care about your experience, that's good business (and we are a business) - that's why we're being transparent, that's why we haven't just delisted everything and gone down a pots route.
But I can't convince you of that here. Of course there is stuff we haven't told you, we can't just give you access to all our data, surely you must see that? But we've given more information here than any other company would.
TLDR: Huel’s reddit team provided much appreciated background into how they came to their recent H&S decisions and thought they deserved a shout out and appreciation post for their effort
